Regis Francis Xavier Philbin, was born on the twenty fifth day of the month of August, 1931. The man with a distinctive avuncular voice is an American Emmy Award-winning television personality. He is renowned for outstanding talents like his roles as a talk show host as well as game show host including other skills in singing and as a presenter of various events. He is deemed to be one of the hardest working artists in show business. He has also been entrusted the Guinness World Record for spending most time in front of a television camera. He studied at Regis High School, which was a Manhattan Jesuit private school. His father, Frank Philbin, belonged to Irish heritage and his mother, was of Arbëreshë heritage, which is of Albanian stock. Though he was born in Manhattan, the family resided in the Van Nest/Morris Park of the Bronx. Earlier it was believed that Frank was the only child in the family, but on the first day of February 2007 in a show called "Live with Regis and Kelly," he announced that he has a brother, Frank M. Philbin. Frank continued his studies in Bronx in Our Lady of Solace grammar school. He graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School in the year 1949 from Bronx. He also attended the University of Notre Dame, where he completed his studies in the year 1953 with a sociology degree. He joined the navy in United States Navy. His debut talk show was "The Regis Philbin Show" which was broadcasted on KGTV in San Diego, California. He achieved his first national exposure in the year 1967 on the show "The Joey Bishop Show" on television as Joey Bishop's sidekick. From the year 1975 to 1983, he co-hosted the show "A.M. Los Angeles," a morning talk show on KABC-TV. In the year 1981, Frank co-hosted for NBC in a national morning variety series. In the year 1980s, on the Lifetime television network, he hosted "Lifestyles with Regis Philbin". Philbin in the year 2001 won a Daytime Emmy Award for "Outstanding Talk Show Host". And the show continued to be a major hit.

Besides being a television personality, Frank is also an author and singer. His autobiographies are “I'm Only One Man!” and “Who Wants To Be Me?” As a singer, he can be at his best be described as a crooner following the style of some of his favorite singers like Dean Martin, Perry Como as well as Frank Sinatra. In the year 1968 he resulted his pop vocal release entitled It's Time For Regis! After a hiatus of 36 years, he in the year 2004 recorded When You're Smiling.
