Relient K’s members met in college. The guitarist used to fall asleep with a CDplaying as a teenager. Relient K began playing at the college dive bar Desperado. Aerosmith heavily influenced the early work of the group.

After paying their dues and opening shows for years, Relient K was signed to a record deal. The group regularly played at Universe before making it to the big time.
