Charles Roger Pomfret Hodgson, a British vocalist and musician, is popularly known as Roger Hodgson. He is known all over for his high-pitched voice, which turned into a trademark for his band; Supertramp. He frequently writes about somewhat spiritual and philosophical topics.

Hodgson was born in 1950 into a rich middle-class family, in Oxford, England. It is widely believed that he composed his song Breakfast in America while he was a teenager. He founded the band Supertramp whose songs as per the copyright agreement was accredited to Davies and Hodgson, no matter of who actually wrote them. Supertramp was quite a popular band, but Hodgson quit the band in 1983 to embark on a solo career. A year after quitting the band Hodgson released his maiden solo effort Eye of the Storm. The album did reasonably well. His sophomore album Hai Hai released in 1987 had a typical synthpop-oriented feel, but Hodgson was not able to promote the album as he met with an accident and broke both wrists. After the accident he took a break from the music world for a while. After the break he embarked on a tour and issued 1997's "Rites of Passage. " After the release he went off on his maiden world solo tour in 1998. Hodgson contributed two songs: "The Elements," and "The Will of God" to the project, Excalibur: La Legende Des Celtes headed by Alan Simon. Hodgson issued his third solo album, Open the Door in 2000. The album is considered by many to be much more true to the Supertramp style than Supertramp's bluesier 2002 album Slow Motion. A year after the release of his third album, Hodgson hit the road with All-Starr Band, as their member. After that he joined forces with Trevor Rabin and Ringo Starr. Hodgson still performs alone but often other musicians or a full orchestra joins him. He played in the Night of the Proms concert series in Belgium and Germany towards the end of 2004 as well as the rock festival, Bospop in 2005. The same year Hodgson held his first concert in England after almost two decades at Shepherd's Bush, London. Hodgson along with Dennis DeYoung participated in the popular TV program Canadian Idol as a mentor. Roger Hodgson's song Give A Little Bit became quite a hit in the US and in May 2006 he was honored via ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers) for the same song. He set off on a tour in March 2007 that also covered the UK. On July 1st 2007, he sang songs such as; "Dreamer", "The Logical Song", "Breakfast in America" and "Give A Little Bit at the Concert for Diana at Wembley Stadium, UK.
