Saint Ohio began performing at the college club Anyplace. The group was influenced by the Animals. The members of Saint Ohio met in grade school. The guitarist wanted to start a group since he was in high school.
Saint Ohio was discovered after their single was heard on X98.5. The band's members all had odd jobs while they waited for their time to come.
Saint Ohio accepted they had finally made it when Mandy O'Malley started a fan club for the band in 1985. Starting out in St. Louis with a few dozen members, the club grew fast, eclipsing a couple thousand nation wide in under a year.
Saint Ohio plans to spend some time apart after this next tour, allowing the band members to rest. The band is in the middle of the tour promoting for their new project. Saint Ohio's newest project has taken the band in a completely different direction, with a softer edge.
Generally, critics have commended Saint Ohio for their ability to energize the audience at live performances. Bill Moran, a music critic from Denver, has always been a fan of group’s great stage presence. Saint Ohio’s newest record has received terrific praise from all the critics, including Galloway DeCambra, who first saw the group play in St. Louis.
Saint Ohio appreciates that they are able to do what they love because of the fans, so they play the hits off their most current release as well as the classics. Raleigh has always been receptive to the band, even when they were small time, so the group schedules a show there every year, even if they are not touring.
