Saliva is an alternative rock/hard rock band that was started in September 1996 in Memphis, Tennessee. The metallic quintet Saliva has used grunge techniques along with a bit of nu metal on their older albums, although they still integrate rapped verses to a degree. The musical styles of Saliva are very broad and alter sometimes from album to album, and even from song to song within the albums.

Although Memphis was an unbelievable place for an alternative rock/post-grunge band, Saliva was able to survive by forging post-grunge songs in a radio-friendly format popularized by the likes of Creed and Nickelback. The band participated in the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences Grammy Showcase competition, and reached the final round in New York City. The band independently issued their eponymous maiden album that sold more than 10,000 copies in their region. This album forced Island Records to take notice of the band. Eventually Island Records signed the band, and issued their album, Every Six Seconds in 2001. A year later another album, Back Into Your System was issued. The sophomore album with the label spawned chart toppings hit such as; 'Always', and 'Rest In Pieces.' After the release of the album, the band hit the road and toured in 2003. While on tour the band opened for such acts like; Kiss and Aerosmith. To the dismay of fans, in 2005 guitarist Chris D'abaldo declared that he had quit the band as he felt that the band was not united anymore. But after some time, he drew back his statement and apologized, and said on the band's website that "there was a bit of an issue we're working through and we're looking forward to recording a new album later this year." However to the utter confusion of everyone, the band's website apologized and confirmed that D'abaldo was indeed quitting the band due to creative differences. The statement in the website further added that Saliva "is completely moving forward as planned and has our best music ahead of us". Finally D'abaldo, quit the band, and in his place came Jonathan Montoya.

With the new line up, the band issued a new album, Blood Stained Love Story on January 23, 2007. The single, "Ladies & Gentlemen" from the album has been issued to radio stations, and has even made it to #2 on the US Mainstream Rock charts. The second single "Broken Sunday", too did quite well and peaked at #8 on the mainstream rock chart. It is often on the Sirius top 20 on Octane. The latest album has really done well and has bowled the fans over.
