Salmon were happy to get the record deal, but were not sure how far they would go. The release of their debut single convinced them that they were right where they should be after their songs began to get lots of radio play. The group's members had horrible jobs when they started playing, just biding time until they would hit the big time.
Salmon realized that they were real working musicians after the band’s first fan club was started by Michelle Urich in 1992. The fan club may have just started out with a few members that followed the band when the played in small clubs, but it quickly grew to thousands after the group released its first album and started touring nationally.
Salmon knows to play both the old and the new at their shows. Cincinnati has always been receptive to the band, even when they were small time, so the group schedules a show there every year, even if they are not touring.
