The members of Sander Van Doorn were friends in middle school. The group used to practice at the drummer's house. Sander Van Doorn started performing at Pushover, a college club. The guitarist wanted to start a band since he was in middle school.

Sander Van Doorn talked to a local music director from Q91.1 and got their single on air. The girlfriend of a record executive heard the song and soon after Sander Van Doorn was signed. The group members were happy once they were signed and quit their odd jobs that had supported them while they worked toward their dreams. The group really enjoys performing and is playing almost nightly in front of fans.

Sander Van Doorn finally realized they made it when the band’s first fan club was started in 1995 by Deborah Urich. The fan club grew quickly from a few dozen members in a few cities to a few thousand from California to New York.

The most current release from Sander Van Doorn has been heavily influenced by singers of the 1950s. The group has just finished their new album, but they are already planning their next move. Sander Van Doorn intends to take a break after this next tour, allowing the band members to recharge after a long year.
