Scorpions Tickets

The Scorpions have proven that sometimes an incredible will alone can fuel the success of a band. The hard rock group known for its hard anthems mixed with melodic ballads endured almost endless growing pains brought on by external and internal pressures to break through as one of the most beloved hard rock bands of the ‘80s.

The group originally featured Rudolph Schenker in 1965. In 1969 his brother Michael and lead singer Klaus Meine came aboard, completing the first truly recognized lineup of The Scorpions. By 1972, the band recorded and released it s first album, Lonesome Crow. Michael left the group during the promotional tour and was replaced by Uli Roth.

The Scorpions decided to break up in 1973 after the tour schedule subsided and Roth decided to remain with his other group, Dawn Road. Dawn Road eventually took on Rudolph Scheneker and Klaus Meine and changed their name to The Scorpions because they more widely known than their group.

With an essential fusing of the groups, the Scorpions again started working toward establishing themselves. Internal strife and external factors led to several subtractions and additions to the group, but by 1974 the band was on its way to fame. The album Fly to the Rainbow outsold Lonesome Crow and the following album, In Trance, solidified their sound.

In 1976, after the cover art of Virgin Killer drew criticism, which also gave the group exposure. The 1980 album, Animal Magnetism, again created controversy for the cover art, but also became the Scorpions first platinum certified record. Banking on the success of the album started its heavy rotation of tours and studio recordings. The era ended with five platinum selling albums and the classic “Rock You Like a Hurricane”.

The advent of MTV and the questionable art choices helped drive the band during those ten years, especially with the refusal to sell several of the albums by many stores. The Scorpions managed to survive through the ‘90s and the turn of the century, as fans have continued to buy tickets and albums even though the musical landscape has changed considerably.
