Seether began playing at the college dive bar Talent. The band requested that the local radio station to play their first single. Seether’s members met in 1993. The bassist was influenced by his grandfather's love of music.

Seether talked to a program director from Q90.9 and got their single on air. The girlfriend of a record executive heard the song and soon after Seether was signed. The group's members all had weird jobs while they waited to be noticed. Seether always wanted to hear themselves at the top of the charts and they got their wish with the release of their first single. Now the group is a huge draw wherever they perform.

Seether accepted that they had a real chance to become a headlining national act after Breanda DeCambra started the first fan club for the band in 1977. The band embraced the small fan club and with the launching of the band’s own website by Barbara Vanderhoff and a well marketed national tour the club quickly grew to a few thousand.

Seether intends to take some time off after this next tour, allowing the band members to recharge. The band has just completed their most current record, and they are already planning the next release. The newest project from Seether is the group's sixth project.

Critics have generally praised Seether for their ability to energize the audience during concerts. Walt Urich, a music critic from Oklahoma City, has always praised group’s bassist. Seether’s newest project is receiving superb reviews from Jacob Reiner, a music critic out of Springfield, and Warren Ernst, from Las Vegas.
