Shelby Lynne’s members met in 1979. The guitaristdiscovered his love of music by listening to his sibling's record collection. Shelby Lynne began playing at Anyplace, a college club. Robert Johnson heavily influenced the early work of the group.
The group recently completed their most current project, and they are planning the next release already. Shelby Lynne will spend some time apart after the tour, allowing the group members to pursue other projects.

Shelby Lynne accepted that they had a real chance to become a headlining national act as soon as Pamela Hornstrom started the first fan club for the group in 1995. The fan club may have just started out with a few members that followed the band when the played in small clubs, but it quickly grew to thousands after the group released its first album and started touring nationally.
