The drummer discovered his love of music while listening to his aunt's music collection. Slipknot started singing at the college dive bar Cafeteria. The group used to practice at the lead singer's garage.
Slipknot’s first album did not do so well, but the second album was a hit, going gold. The group is enjoying its success, touring constantly. Slipknot talked to a local DJ from B93.5 and got their single on air. The girlfriend of a record executive heard the song and soon after Slipknot was signed. The members of the group all quit their other jobs to focus on their music.
Members of Slipknot hope this tour and the new album attracts another audience. The band is in the beginning of the tour promoting for their most current album. Slipknot's most current record is the band's eighth album.
Critics have generally commended Slipknot for their playfulness with the crowd when they perform live.
