Soilwork began playing at the college club City. Ozzy Osborne heavily influenced the early work of the band. The members of Soilwork met in 1981. The drummer wanted to start a group since he was in college.

The new record from Soilwork is a refinement of their well-established sound. The group is in the beginning of the tour promoting for their latest album. After this last busy year the members of Soilwork will take some time off.

Soilwork was offered a record contract after their single was heard on Q91.9. The group's members all had weird jobs while they waited to be noticed. Soilwork’s first album did not do so well, but the second album was a hit, going gold.

Soilwork realized that they could really have a career in music when the group’s first fan club was started in 1992 by Karen Oswalt. After the group’s first North American tour, the fan club grew from the couple dozen fans who heard the band play around Raleigh to the thousands who heard them play from coast to coast.
