Sonny Landreth began singing in small clubs around town. The group used to practice at the guitarist's basement. The members of Sonny Landreth met in high school. The guitaristdiscovered his love of music by listening to his brother's music collection.

Sonny Landreth were unsure about their music careers with the release of their first single, and were relieved after their music began climbing the charts ad getting lots of play on the radio. The band plays plenty of arenas, but would rather play in the smaller bars in which they started. accepted that they had made it when the band’s first fan club was started in 1994 by Carol Fraiser. The fan club may have just started out with a few members that followed the band when the played in small clubs, but it quickly grew to thousands after the group released its first album and started touring nationally.

The group has just finished their most current release, but they are already thinking of their next move. After this past busy year the members of Sonny Landreth will take a break.
