Spear of Destiny began playing together in 1978. The drummer use to listen to records constantly as a kid. Spear of Destiny started playing at Dealer, a local club. The group was influenced by music of the '60s.

Spear of Destiny were sure that they would make it after signing the record deal. They had heard stories of others still failing, but were sure they would be one of those bands. The band is enjoying its success, touring constantly. Spear of Destiny was discovered after their single was heard on a local music hour on Z89.5. All the members quit their other jobs to focus on their album.

Spear of Destiny realized that the possibility of living life as actual musicians was a distinct possibility after Michelle Jenson started the first fan club for the band in 1978. The fan club started out small with just a handful of members, generally localized to the area around Concord, but the creation the group’s website by Mary Reiner, along with the first real national marketing campaign, saw the membership to grow into the thousands.

The newest record is 's first record since the band broke up eight years ago. The group has just completed their most current project, and they are thinking of what is next to come.
