Staind Tickets
Staind is the hard rock group out of Springfield, Massachusetts that started as a cover band playing Alice in Chains, Rage Against the Machine, and Korn. The group, with Aaron Lewis as the frontman, Mike Mushock on guitar, Johnny April on bass, and Jon Wysocki on drums, realized they needed to break away and release their own material a year and a half after they started top play together in 1995. In 1997 they released their debut album, Tormented.
The album found its way into the hands of Limp Bizkit lead singer Fred Durst when they were opening for the group on tour. Durst was about to kick them off the tour because of cover art that he found religiously offensive, but changed his mind once her heard them play a set.
Durst instead signed them to his label, Flip Records. Under his label the group released their first nationally released album, Dysfunction, in 1999. Although panned by the critic as a generic album of the times, the album became a huge hit. The album went platinum twice and the group became a huge draw on large music festivals like the Family Values Tour.
Staind began to move in different musical directions over the next few albums, moving toward nu metal on Break the Cycle and more mainstream rock on 14 Shades of Grey. The fan base has remained strong over that time, having no problem buying tickets to Staind concerts and elevating the albums to platinum status.
The group newest album, The Illusion of Progress, is due out in August of 2008 and will have a world tour to promote it. The tour kicks off with a concert on the fourth of July at Heritage Landing in Muskegon, Michigan. The group will then join 3 Doors Down on July 9 in St. Louis and tour for a little over a month before heading overseas with Nickelback on August 30.
