tapt & shinedown started playing at the college dive bar Core. The band used to practice at the guitarist's basement. The members of tapt & shinedown were friends in high school. The bassist was influenced by his sibling's love of music.

tapt & shinedown will spend some time apart after the tour, to allow the group members to rest. The group is in the second leg of the tour promoting for their new project. tapt & shinedown's newest project is the group's first since the band members went to work on independent projects three years ago.

Generally, critics commend tapt & shinedown for their ability to connect with the audience during live performances. Jacksonville music critic Glenn Carter has always been pleased with band’s incredibly talented vocals. tapt & shinedown’s new record has received great reviews from all the critics, including Claude Okerblom from Atlanta and Vince DiSalvatore from San Antonio.

tapt & shinedown met with a local DJ from Q94.1 and convinced him to play their single on air. The single immediately became a local hit and larger radio stations started playing the song. Eventually a record executive heard it and signed the group. The band took any show they could get before they were signed. tapt & shinedownwere tentative after releasing their first release, but were more than relieved when they started hearing their music on the radio. The band plays plenty of arenas, but would rather play in the smaller venues in which they started.
