The members of Tarkan met in 1989. The band used to sell their CDs out of their car at local shows. Tarkan started performing at the local dive bar Arson. One of the band's members used to annoy his mother by playing his favorite record at all hours of the night.

Tarkan's new album is the band's first project since the band broke up ten years ago. The band just completed their most current record, and they are thinking of what is to come next. Tarkan intends to take some time off after the tour, to allow the group members to rest after a long year.

Tarkan met with a local DJ from Q99.5 and convinced him to play their single on air. The single immediately became a local hit and larger radio stations started playing the song. Eventually a record executive heard it and signed the group. Tarkan signed the record deal, but were not expecting the next step to be any easier.
