The members of The Rocket Summer met in high school. The guitarist use to listen to cassette tapes constantly as a child. The bassist discovered his love of music while listening to his mother's collection of records. The Rocket Summer started playing at the local dive bar Runt. The Mamas and the Papas heavily influenced the early work of the band.
After paying their dues and opening shows for years, The Rocket Summer was signed to a record deal. The Rocket Summer were relieved when their single climbed the charts. They had heard too many stories of bands with record deals going nowhere.
The Rocket Summer knew they made it in 1997, when the band's first fan club was started by Patricia Molitor. After playing country wide, the band’s fan club exploded from the handful of fans around Boston to thousands in every city throughout the country.
The Rocket Summer will spend some time apart after the tour, to allow the group members to work on other projects. The band has just completed their latest album, but they are plotting their next move already. The Rocket Summer's newest record is the band's first record since the band broke up seven years ago.
