The members of Toots & the Maytals grew up together and developed the same deep appreciation for reggae music. The bassist of the group developed a love for reggae after listening to his uncle's Bob Marley collection. Toots & the Maytals began performing at Baby, a college bar. The band's practices used to annoy the drummer's mom, but as the group got better the family member actually enjoyed listening to the jam sessions.

Toots & the Maytals’s single climbed the charts quickly, giving them national exposure. submitted their single to K100.9 and a DJ took a liking to it.

The group is in the midst of the promotional tour for their latest release. Toots & the Maytals intends to spend some time apart after this next tour, allowing the group members to recharge after a long year.
