Trace Adkins Tickets
Trace Adkins: Background
Trace Adkins may have always wanted to be a country singer, but his road there was long and winding. He learned to play guitar as a child and sang in a gospel group in high school, but after graduating from Louisiana Tech, he starting working on an oil rig.
After severing his left pinky and reattaching it an angle so he could still play guitar, Trace Adkins went to Nashville to pursue his dreams. Bar fights, being shot in the heart and the lung by his second wife, and being stabbed and beaten all happened to be along that path. Eventually, an Atlantic Records hear his heavy baritone performance at a honky-tonk bar in Nashville and signed the 34 year old to a record deal in 1996.
Adkins had immediate success with the Top 20 single, “There’s a Girl in Texas”, and his platinum-selling debut album, Dreamin’ Out Loud. Trace’s follow up efforts slowly began to slide though, with Big Time selling gold and More… failing to be certified. He eventually came to grips with a drinking problem and returned the country scene with Chrome in 2001 and Comin’ on Strong in 2003. His return was complete with the number one album, Songs About Me, in 2005 that went double platinum.
