Travis began performing at the local club Demonstrator. The drummer use to listen to records constantly as a teenager. The lead singer was encouraged to play by his grade school teacher. Travis’s members met in 1980. The band used to sell their records out of their van in the school parking lot.
Travis hope this tour and the newest record attracts a new group of fans. The group is in the midst of the accompanying tour for their newest record. The most current album from Travis has taken the band in a different direction, with a heavier sound.
Travis was offered a record contract after putting on a show at at Blackmail, a local dive bar. All the members quit their day jobs to focus on their music. Now the band play in plays in sold out arenas across the country.
Travis knew that their dream of making an actual life for themselves as musicians had come true after Amanda Pillar started a fan club for the group in 1977. After the group’s first North American tour, the fan club grew from the couple dozen fans who heard the group play around San Antonio to the thousands who heard them play from California to New York.
