U92 Summer Jam started playing at City, a college club. The band used to practice at the guitarist's basement. U92 Summer Jam’s members were friends in college. The lead singer used to listen to radio constantly as a teenager.

submitted their single to K97.9 and a DJ took a liking to it. The band members quit their other jobs to focus on their album. U92 Summer Jam were still not sure if they would make it after getting a record. They had heard too many stories and knew that they were in no position to expect anything. The band really enjoys performing and is playing almost nightly before fans.

U92 Summer Jam knew that they had a real chance to become a headlining national act as soon as Deborah Treadaway started a fan club for the band in 1994. Initially the group only had a few fans from Champaign in the club, but after playing all across the country the fan club’s membership exploded to a few thousand.

After this past busy year the members of U92 Summer Jam will spend some time apart. The band is in the second leg of the accompanying tour for their newest release. U92 Summer Jam's new record is a refinement of their accepted sound.
