The members of U.n.k.l.e. were friends in college. The guitarist was encouraged to play by his teacher. U.n.k.l.e. began singing at the local dive bar Cafeteria. The band asked the local radio station to play their track.

U.n.k.l.e. met with a local DJ from B89.1 and convinced him to play their single on air. The single immediately became a local hit and larger radio stations started playing the song. Eventually a record executive heard it and signed the group. All the members quit their day jobs to focus on their music. U.n.k.l.e. were convinced their hard work had paid off after their first single rose to the top of the charts. Now the band headlines shows across America.

U.n.k.l.e. realized that they were real working musicians as soon as the group’s first fan club was started by Carol Innocent in 1989. The fan club received a huge boost after Virginia DiSalvatore designed a website for the band. That coupled with the tour from New York to California saw the fan club’s official membership reach numbers in the thousands.
