The members of Wailin Jenny's were friends in grade school. The bassist first found his love of music by listening to his uncle's music collection. Wailin Jenny's began playing at the college dive bar Accountant. Music of the '70s heavily influenced the early work of the band.

Wailin Jenny's were relieved when their single climbed the charts. They had heard too many stories of bands with record deals going nowhere. The band members were ecstatic to have the opportunity to make an album and quit their day jobs that supported them while they worked hard at night to make their dreams happen.

Wailin Jenny's knew that their dream of making an actual life for themselves as musicians had come true as soon as Liz Reiner started a fan club for the band in 2000. After starting out with a handful of members in Kansas City, the club took off exponentially, growing to over two thousand in just a few months.

The band may have recently completed their newest project, but they are planning the next release already. The most current release from Wailin Jenny's has taken the group in a new direction, with a heavier sound.
