The members of Wang Ming Chun met in grade school. The group used to practice at the lead singer's house. Wang Ming Chun started playing at the college bar Human. The lead singer use to listen to CD constantly as a teenager.

Wang Ming Chun’s first album failed to sell, but the second album saved them from obscurity. After paying their dues and opening shows for years, Wang Ming Chun was signed to a record deal.

Wang Ming Chun realized that they could really have a career in music after Mary Scheutz started the first fan club for the group in 1978. The fan club grew from a few dozen to a few thousand after Sarah Dostal created a website for the band and a national tour gave the band plenty of exposure.

The band may have recently completed their new record, but they are already plotting the next move. Wang Ming Chun plans to spend some time apart after this next tour, allowing the band members to work on other projects.
