One of Washington, D.C.’s greatest festivals of the spring is Warped Tour. The festival was started in 1988 when a few residents started to inquire about a big celebration in the middle of the park. Randall Cotroneo was hit by inspiration while listening to his favorite cassette tape and finished all the details for Warped Tour in one night. After a couple of years the city's residents embraced Warped Tour The festival began to get some more established acts to perform, but still included the smaller that had been with the festival since the beginning. The city was soon blocking off traffic for city blocks on the dates of Warped Tour.

Tickets to Warped Tour are now sold out within the first few days of their release. The tour is now so big that just about any band will say yes if asked to sing. The organizers of the festival have not forgotten where they’ve come from though, and always ask local artists to play the smaller stages. Warped Tour used to be concerned with getting enough acts to fill out the bill, but now is starting to worry of the event is getting too big.

The tour is once again the biggest of its kind this year. More bands than ever will be there with huge names and great up and coming groups.
