Wavves’s members met in 1994. The lead singer wanted to start a band since he was in middle school. Wavves began performing at Philosopher, a college club. The band was influenced by Madonna.
Wavves’s first release climbed the charts quickly, giving them national exposure. The group plays plenty of arenas, but would rather play in the smaller venues in which they started. got K102.9 to start playing their single and had their friends call in to request the song. A record executive heard it one day and immediately signed the band. The band regularly played at Troupe before making it to the big time.
The band recently completed their most current album, but they are plotting their next move already. Wavves's members are expecting to bring in a whole new audience with this tour and the newest release.
Often times, critics have commended Wavves for their ability to energize the crowd when they perform live. Urbana music critic Cypher Treadaway has always been pleased with group’s effort every show. Wavves’s newest project has received great praise from all the critics, including Lane Lamango from Dallas and Diedrich Kaplan from Denver.
