X-103's Mayday began performing at the college club Assistant. The bassist was heavily influenced by his grandfather's love for music. The drummer was influenced by his uncle's love of music. The members of X-103's Mayday met in 1983. The band harassed the local radio station to play their songs.

X-103's Mayday talked to a local DJ from K92.5 and got their single on air. The girlfriend of a record executive heard the song and soon after X-103's Mayday was signed. The band members quit their other jobs to focus on their record. The band plays plenty of arenas, but would rather perform in the smaller bars in which they began.

X-103's Mayday accepted that they could really have a career in music when the group’s first fan club was started by Dorothy Richardson in 1979. The fan club grew quickly from a few dozen members in a few cities to a few thousand across the country.

The band is in the start of the tour promoting for their new project. The latest album is 's first record since the band broke up two years ago.
