XFM began playing together while they were in high school. The drummer used to annoy his uncle by playing his favorite music nonstop. The guitaristdiscovered his love of music by listening to his sibling's record collection. XFM began playing at the college club Baby. The Benagls heavily influenced the early work of the band.

XFM were uneasy after releasing the debut album, but were happy when they heard their music on the radio for the first time. The group plays plenty of arenas, but would rather play in the smaller venues in which they started. After paying their dues and opening shows for years, XFM was signed to a record deal. All the members quit their day jobs to focus on their music.

XFM knew they had finally made it as soon as the group’s first fan club was started by Lizzie Rohrs in 1993. The fan club grew quickly from a few dozen members in a few cities to a few thousand across the country.

The newest project is 's first album since the band broke up seven years ago. The group just completed their new project, and they are already plotting the next move. XFM will spend some time apart after the tour, allowing the band members to rest.
