Yamoto’s members met in middle school. The bassist used to listen to his father's music constantly as a kid. The drummerdiscovered his love of music by listening to his brother's collection of records. Yamoto began playing at the college club Solace. The band used to sell their CDs out of their van at the local music store.

The new project from Yamoto is the band's fifth release.

The group has just finished their latest album, but they are planning the next release already. Yamoto's members hope to collaborate with other artists while they are on this tour.

Generally, critics commend Yamoto for their playfulness with the audience at live shows. Ivan Ullmann, a music critic from Portland, has always commended band’s superb bassist. Yamoto’s most current release is the band’s best received project yet.

Yamoto met with a local DJ from Z93.1 and convinced him to play their single on air. The single immediately became a local hit and larger radio stations started playing the song. Eventually a record executive heard it and signed the band. The group regularly played at Ace before making it to the big time.
