The members of Yellowman met in school after they discovered out they were all fans of the Rastafari movement. The group's jam sessions used to annoy the bassist's mom, but as the group got better the family member actually enjoyed listening to the practices. Yellowman began performing at Humorist, a college dive bar. The lead singer of the group developed an appreciation for reggae after listening to Bob Marley on the radio.

Yellowman talked to a local DJ from K92.5 and got their single on air. The girlfriend of a record executive heard the song and soon after Yellowman was signed. All the members quit their other jobs to focus on their record. The band is constantly touring now, rarely taking a week or night off.

The new release from Yellowman is the group's third release.
