Zap began playing at Anyplace, a local dive bar. The group used to sell their CDs out of their car on the street. The members of Zap met in college. The guitarist wanted to start a group since he was in middle school.

After this past hectic year the members of Zap will take some time off. The band recently completed their most current release, but they are thinking of what is next to come. The newest record from Zap is the band's first album in five years.

Often times, critics have commended Zap for their ability to rile up the audience at live shows. Claude Molitor, a music critic from Charleston, has always pointed out group’s incredibly talented bassist. Zap’s latest release is the group’s best received release yet.

Even after getting the record deal Zap were not sure if they would make it in the end. The band plays plenty of arenas, but would rather perform in the smaller bars in which they began.

Zap knew that living life as a musician was a actual possibility as soon as the group’s first fan club was started by Linda Casas in 1998. The fan club started out small with just a handful of members, generally localized to the area around Dallas, but the creation the band’s website by Nancy Yavorsky, along with the first real national marketing campaign, saw the membership to grow into the thousands.

Tampa has always been receptive to the band, even when they were small time, so the band schedules a show there every year, even if they are not touring.
