The members of Zox met in grade school. The drummer was heavily influenced by his sister's love for music. The lead singer was influenced by his dad's love of music. Zox started playing at the college bar Cafeteria. The band used to sell their records out of their car at school.

Zox’s first album was a dud, but the second finally got some exposure. The band plays plenty of arenas, but would rather perform in the smaller clubs in which they began. Zox met with a local DJ from B89.1 and convinced him to play their single on air. The single immediately became a local hit and larger radio stations started playing the song. Eventually a record executive heard it and signed the band. The band members quit their other jobs to focus on their record.

Zox realized that their dream of making an actual life for themselves as musicians had come true after Mandy Storjohann started a fan club for the group in 1984. Starting out with just a few dozen members in Detroit, the fan club quickly grew with group’s national tour and the launching of the group’s website by Mary Lamango.

The band may have recently completed their latest project, but they are already thinking of their next move. Zox's latest album is the group's first album since the band broke up two years ago.

The band loves playing in Louisville because they played their first sold out show there. Zox respects the fact that their fans love their past albums, so they go to great effort to incorporate the previous hits with the most current ones.
