Once again held at the Ridgewood Country Club in NJ, the The Barclays tournament proves to be an all out exciting event. The Barclays tickets are always great sellers in the Garden State and this year will prove the same. The Barclays tournament started in 1967.

In 1967, the well known Jack Nicklaus won the very Barclays tournament who would also win it in 1972. In the early days it was known as the Westchester Classic and was played at the Westchester Country Club in Rye, NY. Because of a change in sponsorships in the 1970's. The name was changed although many traditional players and fans as well still go by that early name. Still The Barclays tickets will be hot as they are each year.

Usually played in June, The Barclays tournament is either held one week prior or one week after the U.S. Open. In 2001, The Barclays tickets sold the most in the history of The Barclays. This is the year Tiger Woods participated even though the game was really disrupted by two days of constant rain.

The most exciting finish of The Barclays was in 2005 when Padraig Harrington managed to Eagle the par 5 18th hole. He shot an amazing 65-foot putt to win. The biggest winner though has been Vijay Singh who has won four trophies.

For the first time ever in 40 years, in 2008, the Westchester Country Club was left without a PGA event when the tournament went to Ridgewood Country Club in New Jersey. But never fear, The Barclays will return to Westchester at least once before 2012 per an agreement.

In 2009 in Jersey City, NJ, Heath Slocum walked away winning The Barclays Tournament and a cut of the $7.5 million purse. This year he will be defending that win against the always great players in the game of golf. This year the game will be played at the Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, NJ on August 24-29, 2010.
