Childrens Miracle Network Classic Tickets

The Children's Miracle Network Classic is a yearly golf tournament on the PGA Tour. The tournament is played on the Palm and Magnolia courses at the Walt Disney World Resort. Starting in 2007, it was the final event in the PGA Tour Fall Series, and also the final official event of the PGA Tour season. The tournament is one of the players' favorites because of its location in Orlando, Florida. The reason for this, is because many players maintain homes in Florida, and whether or not they live in Florida, they can easily take their families to the parks while not playing. For some players, it is also a final opportunity to earn or retain a Tour Card.

The 2008 purse was $4,600,000, with $828,000 going to the winner. The tournament began in 1971 and was originally known as the Walt Disney World Open Invitational. From 1974 to 1981, the tournament was played as a two-man team event with a better-ball format. After 36 years of including "Disney" in the tournament name, a new sponsor was announced in 2007, the Children's Miracle Network.

When this tournament debuted in 1971, it was played over two courses at the Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, the Palm course and the Magnolia course. Those two courses have always been the site of the tournament, and continue today as the host courses.

In some years, however, two other tracks also hosted rounds during tournament play. Those other locations are the Lake Buena Vista course and the Eagle Pines course, both also part of the Disney resort.

As mentioned before,w hen this tournament debuted in 1971, it was known as the Walt Disney World Open Invitational. Other tourney names that included Disney were the Walt Disney World National Team Championship, the Walt Disney World Golf Classic, the Walt Disney World/Oldsmobile Classic, the National Car Rental Golf Classic at Walt Disney World Resort, the Disney Golf Classic, and the Funai Golf Classic at Walt Disney World Resort. While Disney continues to be the location of the tournament, since 2007 the Disney name has been left out from the tournament title.

Disney's Palm course, which is considered to be the most difficult of the original Disney courses, is rated by Golf Digest as one of the "Top 100" Resort Courses in the country. It plays 6,957 from the back tees and is loaded with plenty of challenges. It boasts nine water holes, tight and heavily wooded fairways, and an abundance of natural Florida wildlife. At the 2006 Children's Miracle Network Classic presented by Wal-Mart, Justin Rose thrilled the crowd on the opening day of the tournament by breaking the course record with a round of 60.

Jack Nicklaus won the first tournament in 1971, followed by the second, and then the third. Nicklaus remains the only 3-time winner here. Following Nicklaus' three straight wins from 1971-73, the tournament switched to a 2-man team format in 1974. That format continued through the 1981 tournament.

The second PGA Tour victory of Tiger Woods' career happened at the 1996 Walt Disney World/Oldsmobile Classic. Woods topped Payne Stewart by one stroke.
