Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open Tickets

The Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open is a golf tournament, which is part of the PGA Tour's fall series. It is played annually in October in Las Vegas, Nevada. The tournament is held at the TBC at Summerlin and from 2008 will be hosted by recording artist Justin Timberlake.

The event has been known by other titles, including the Frys.com Open, Michelin Championship at Las Vegas, Las Vegas Invitational and Invensys Classic at Las Vegas. In 2008, the purse was worth $4,100,000, with a $738,000 first prize. In 2002, under a previous sponsor, the purse was $5,000,000 ($900,000 to champion), and has never been as high since. The tournament was founded in 1983, and up until 2003, this tournament was played over five rounds over several other courses. Tiger Woods recorded his first PGA Tour win here in 1996.

The tournament decided that the Shriners Hospitals for Children would take over the operations of the event, and that the Las Vegas Founders, a volunteer group, would no longer be involved with it. Fry's Electronics, chief presenting sponsor in 2006 and 2007, also ended their association with this event, choosing to concentrate on a second tournament in Arizona that it was already sponsoring. On November 12, 2007, the PGA Tour announced that Timberlake would become host of the tournament, and also announced the event's new name. Timberlake, an avid golfer who plays to a 6 handicap, played in the celebrity pro-am and hosted a benefit concert during the week of the tournament.

The host course for the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, the Tournament Players Club Summerlin offers golfers a 7,243-yard stadium course layout that has gained a reputation as one of the country's most enjoyable golfing experiences. The last two rounds of the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open will be played exclusively at the TPC Summerlin course. The TPC, which opened for play in November 1991, was constructed in the heart of Summerlin, a 22,000-acre master-planned community on the western-most edge of Las Vegas. The community is currently home to over 100,000 residents.

As a stadium course, the TPC Summerlin was built to accommodate golfing fans with unrestricted views of tee shots, fairway approaches and putting through strategically placed spectator mounds and natural amphitheaters. However, the integrity of the course still remains. The signature hole at TPC Summerlin is the short 341-yard par four 15th hole. The hole tempts the player to shoot for the elevated green which is guarded with numerous bunkers. TPC Summerlin has many sand bunkers incorporated into its design, and water hazards come into play at least four times. Golf Digest rated this as the fourth "Best in State" course for 1995-96, and the fifth best for 1997-98. In addition, it was awarded it 98th in the category of "America's 100 Best Modern Courses" for 1997 by Golfweek.

This event became the first PGA Tour event in history to offer a total prize purse of more than $1 million. A tradition at the tournament is presenting the trophy to the champion while two showgirls are a part of the pomp and circumstance. The event's current champion is Marc Turnesa, who defeated Matt Kuchar by one stroke and captured his first PGA Tour title by winning the tournament.
