The Travistock cup is actually a team golfing event which is played in Florida and features the word’s most professional golfers who are members of the Isleworth Golf & Country Club against the golfers from the Lake Nona Golf & Country Club. Now this two day official tournament is sanctioned by the PGA tour and has a purse of over $3.5 million dollars. This is an invitation only gallery and they are only allowed to walk the fairways along with the constants as they fight for team par-3 hole in one prize which includes luxury items such as boats, cars, etc.

Now the interesting part is that the two rivals of the Travistock cup i.e. the isle worth Golf & Country club and the Lake Nona Golf & country club are located just within 25 miles of each other and are both owned privately by the Travistock Group which is an investment company which also has holdings in the real estate industry and financial services, hence the name of the cup i.e. Travistock Cup.

The great Travistock cup is televised each and every year on the famous Golf Channel in Canada, U.S, and Japan. Other channels such as Sky Sports as well as international affiliates broadcast the tournament live though out the UK, South Africa, and America. The live coverage of the Travistock cup also re airs and it reaches nearly ninety million homes around the world in well over one hundred countries.

Now the upcoming and most awaited 2010 Travistock Cup will be played out at the Isleworth Golf & Country Club on March 22, 2010 and March 23, 2010. The Travistock cup is known for its charitable assistance that it provides to various organizations in the world. Every year the winning team of the cup receives a $1 million dollars which is donated to a cause. Each and every player on the team has the option to direct the winnings or a portion of the wings to various charities they think is best which brings the total amount donated to well over $4.5 million.

The Travis stock Cup hasn’t been around for many years it initially started in 2004 as a friendly crosstown rivalry between Lake Nona and Isleworth. Each year members of the clubs both compete against each other in a friendly match and for the title of World Golf and Country Club Champion. Now right though 2008 the members of both these clubs have won a combined 53 major championships as well as 710 total worldwide career victories.

It is interesting to note that Isleworth clinched the first victory of the Travistock Cup in 2004 which was played in Lake Nona. Later in 2005 when the event was played at Islewoth each team had a total of eight and a half points out of seventeen total points at the end of play. After that there was sudden death play but was called off because of darkness and the game ended in a tie. Now, because a clear winner of the Travistock cup was not declared the captains of both teams decided to return to Isleworth in 2006. This is when isle worth clinched the victory again.
