Born on March 30, 1968 to a large, impoverished musically inclined family in Charlemagne, Quebec, Celine Dion showed her musical talent from a very young age. Her parents, both musicians, operated a small club and on weekends, the entire family performed and entertained the local population. In fact, she recorded her first demo when she was just 12 years old and soon she became a local star. She received her first international recognition in the 1980s when she became the winner of the 1982 Yamaha World Popular Song Festival in Tokyo and the coveted Musician's Award for Top Performer.
