Cher Tickets
History
Cher has endured a roller coaster ride in her career, rising and falling as music has changed as her personal life has become very public. She got her start after leaving her hometown of El Centro, California at the age of 16 in 1962. She soon found work as a backup singer at Gold Star Studios where she met her first husband, Sonny Bono.
Sonny and Cher became a hit in the late sixties on the radio and on television in the ‘70s. Letting the much older Sonny Bono drive her career, she began to gain recognition for solo performances and her overall commercial appeal.
Cher struggled after her first marriage fell apart, but found her place again with disco. The disco queen got out of the genre before the bottom fell out and began to find parts on Broadway and in movies. Her role in the critically acclaimed Silkwood earned her an Academy Award nomination for bets supporting actress.
Returning to music she produced three straight platinum selling rock albums in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s (Cher in 1987, Heart of Stone in 1989, and Love Hurts in 1991). After battling health issues in the mid-90s and the passing of her first husband, Cher released one of the best selling albums by a female singer of all time, Believe. The dance record brought her back into the public eye and she has remained there ever since.
Cher at the Colosseum
Cher will stop traveling so much after her three year Farewell Tour, but she will not be resting. She signed a contract to perform 200 shows in three years at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace. She will be one of three artists rotating residency acts at the Vegas hot spot (the other two are Bette Midler and Elton John).
The show debuts on May 6, 2008 and will have 18 dancers, 4 aerialists and plenty of costume changes with costumes designed by Bob Mackie. Seats will be difficult to get once you are in sin city, so find your Cher tickets at The Seats.
