Summer is about much more than shorts, barbeques, and an extreme relationship with the sun (SPF 10 or 90). It is about baseball and baseball is about the MLB. Major League Baseball has thrived for nearly a century and a half, developing from humble beginnings spurred on by exhibitions in a field just outside of town or in the park to become a multi-billion dollar entity. This entity inspires rivalries throughout the United States and Toronto, with some cities sometimes enjoying crosstown rivals between clubs playing for the American League and National League. The sheer number of MLB tickets sold from April to October each and every year is proof these feelings run deep, making the MLB more than a sports league. It is a near religion and it is a part of the fabric of this nation’s cultural tapestry.
