Officially formed in 1954 in Baltimore, Maryland, The Baltimore Orioles are a professional baseball team and a member of the Eastern Division of Major League Baseball's American League. Their name “Orioles” comes from the bird of the same name and they are nicknamed "the O's" (a shortened version of the Orioles name) and "the Birds". In the period from 1966 to 1983 the Orioles won three World Series titles (1966, 1970, and 1983), six American League pennants (1966, 1969, 1970, 1971, 1979, 1983), and five of the first six American League Eastern Division titles. In the 1988 season, the Orioles lost their first 21 games in a row to set a Major League record for most consecutive losses at the beginning of a season.
. Oriole Park at Camden Yards was the name of the Orioles’s new park where in 1992 with grand ceremony, they began their season. The Orioles won the game 3-2 in 11 innings against the Cuban national team in Havana on March 28, 1999. With a record of 70 wins and 92 losses, 27 games behind the AL East leading Yankees, the Orioles finished the 2006 season. They fired Sam Perlozzo after losing 8 straight games on June 18, 2007 and replaced him with Dave Trembley. President of Baseball Operations, Andy McPhail on July 31, 2007 named Dave Trembley as the Orioles Manager through the remainder of the 2007 season, and advised him to "Keep up the good work".
