Florida Marlins Tickets

The Florida Marlins are a relatively young ballclub that plies its trade in the National League East Division, playing ball at Land Shark Stadium and tracing its history back to 1993, when it joined major league baseball as an expansion ballclub. They’re also historically famous for winning their two World Series titles the only two years they’ve made the postseason, both times as Wild Card entries. Along the way, they’ve built a solid fan base that buys up quite a few Florida Marlins tickets.

Joining the league as an expansion ballclub, the Fish (as they’re sometimes called) won their first game on April 5, 1993. The club, through smart drafting, laid the groundwork for their 1997 championship season, drafting future All-Star catcher Charles Johnson and featuring quality ballplayers like Jeff Conine and Gary Sheffield and would avoid a last place finish – which was quite a feat for a first-year expansion team, and would sell over three-million Florida Marlins tickets that inaugural season.

Boasting a future All-Star reliever in Trevor Hoffman, the Marlins would continue to improve gradually over the next few seasons, one of which would include the first-ever no-hitter pitched by a Marlins hurler, Al Leiter, who toss one on May 11, 1996. Additionally, the Marlins would see yet another fine pitcher begin to develop in the young Kevin Brown, who’d win 17 games that season and sport a fine 1.89 earned run average (ERA). Fans loved it, and snapped up Florida Marlins tickets with enthusiasm.

1997 was the year when it all came together, with the Fish putting together a fine winning record and making the postseason as the league’s Wild Card winner after putting field general Jim Leyland in charge and signing All Star players like Bobby Bonilla and Moises Alou while also getting strong-armed performances from Kevin Brown with regularity. Florida Marlins tickets for postseason play were a new phenomenon. There run in playoffs was capped by a stirring 7-game victory over the favored Cleveland Indians.

The team went into rebuilding mode for the 1998 season, trading away or not re-signing much of its high-priced talent. The next few seasons would be one of trial and tribulation, though excellent draft picks like Josh Beckett would help to ease the burden of struggle for the Fish. Smart trades that resulted from those trades also resulted in the team gaining future All Stars A.J. Burnett and Derrek Lee. The fans, sensing that a brighter future was on the way, bought Florida Marlins tickets in fine fashion.

From 2000 onward and culminating in the team’s second World Series title in 2003, the Marlins worked their way back up to baseball’s first division elite with strong play from ever-developing youngsters like Beckett and 2003 Rookie of the Year winner Dontrelle Willis, who came over in a trade from the Cubs. Additionally, all-world catcher Ivan “Pudge” Rodriguez would anchor the club, providing key leadership and awesome fielding and hitting, helping to sell a ton of Florida Marlins tickets. The club would cap it all off with a stirring 7-game league championship series win over the Chicago Cubs and a stirring 6-game win over the favored New York Yankees, taking the sixth game on Yankees turf.

The years since have followed true to form for the Marlins, who saw an exodus of key players after their championship season. However, much talent remained and they were able to fight their way to a fine 83-79 record, though they failed to make the postseason. Future star Miguel Cabrera would feature awesome skills that year. In 2005, first baseman Carlos Delgado – a soon-to-be All Star – would join the club. They’d stay in the Wild Card hunt for much of the year, and sell a lot of Florida Marlins tickets.

The last few seasons have been one of expectation and a gaining of experience for the Marlins. They’ve played solid ball, and finished with a winning record in 2008 and played strong, winning ball for 2009. They hope to take that success to greater heights in 2010 with strong play from second-year player Chris Coghlan and leadoff hitter Emilio Bonaficio. The club is poised, proud and ready to sell a lot of Florida Marlins tickets.
