Los Angeles Dodgers tickets are on sale here to see a first place team take the field at Dodger Stadium in 2012. This baseball club is winning with pitching, just as just about every NL West champ has this century. TheSeats has the L.A. Dodger tickets to enjoy as the franchise moves in on its 12th division title.
Los Angeles is not scoring that many runs this season, yet they remain comfortably over .500. Center fielder Matt Kemp would be the catalyst for far more runs, but instead he has missed half the season. Yet he still leads the club with 12 homeruns and was hitting .355 with a .444 OBP. Kemp is making his rounds in the minors, completing his rehab assignment. Joining Kemp on the DL is Andre Ethier. Ethier is only a recent addition to the DL, and his stay is not going to be very long. Ethier has been one of the few solid hitters, sporting a .291 batting average and a .357 OBP with 10 homeruns. In both their steads, Tony Gwynn and Juan Rivera have been perfectly replaceable. While Kemp and Ethier will be back soon, shortstop Dee Gordon is going to be gone for at least six weeks. Gordon's .229 batting average and .280 OBP seem perfectly replaceable but his 30 stolen bases are not as easily replaced.
The good news is that Chris Capuano, Clayton Kershaw, Aaron Harang, and Chad Billingsley have avoided the DL. Ted Lilly has been the first starting pitcher to miss time, but he will be returning quite soon. This Nate Eovaldi is going to returning to the minors or will be moved to the bullpen. This rotation has been phenomenal. Capuano has 12 quality starts, a 9-3 record, a 2.62 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and an 8.04 K/9. Kershaw has unjustly gone 6-4. His 12 quality starts, 2.65 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, and 8.74 K/9 should grant him a much better record. Harang and Billingsley have not been consistent, but they have delivered quite a few superb performances.
Kenley Jansen has owned the closer role, with 15 saves in 18 opportunities with a 2.11 ERA and 0.78 WHIP along with a 14.32 K/9. Relievers Ronald Belisario, Matt Guerrier, Scott Elbert, and Josh Lindblom have combined for 34 holds.
The Los Angeles Dodgers have been playing professional baseball since 1883. The Dodgers began playing in Brooklyn before heading west and becoming the LA Dodgers in 1958. They have won six World Series, winning one in Brooklyn and five in Los Angeles. Dodgers Stadium has seen four of those.
The Dodgers made history by putting Jackie Robinson on the field in 1956. Three years later, Sandy Koufax and Don Drysdale led the rotation and the Dodgers went 88-68, beating the White Sox in six games in the World Series. Los Angeles enjoyed its best run with Tommy Lasorda, who manned the bench for two decades. The Dodgers won the World Series in 1981 and 1988. Fernando Valenzuela took the Dodgers to the series 1981 armed with an unhittable screwball. He won both the Rookie of the Year and Cy Young Award that season. Eight seasons later, Kirk Gibson won the MVP and hit a memorable home run after straining his MCL and inspired the team to take the World Series in five games.
The 21st century has ushered in several successful regular seasons, but little postseason success in years LA does not play the Cubs in the NLDS. TheSeats has the Los Angeles Dodgers tickets to enjoy the new season at Dodger Stadium.
