Minnesota Twins Tickets

Minnesota Twins tickets are on sale for fans at Target Field. There the M&M Boys will be put to the test and last season’s floundering rotation will be given a second chance to redeem itself. TheSeats has the Minnesota Twin tickets to see if this is indeed the beginning of the restoration of a franchise once heralded among the most effective mid-market ball clubs in the league.

First baseman Justin Morneau and catcher Joe Mauer were once the most compelling 1-2 combo in baseball. They were both threats to hit 30 homeruns, bat .300, and post a .400 OBP. In the past two summer injuries have destabilized the dangerous duo. Morneau has suffered concussions and injuries necessitating surgery. Mauer has reverted back to his contact hitting days.

Two years ago the current crop of starting pitchers was just as promising. Francisco Liriano, Scott Baker, and Nick Blackburn had the potential to be a solid 2-4 in a decent five-man rotation. Well, those three have failed to live up to expectations and Carl Pavano sub-standard ace. The only real hope is Jason Marquis. Marquis had the stuff of an ace pitcher in 2009, but fell to injury and circumstance since. If he can indeed find the stuff of ace’s, then the season might not relinquish an AL Central crown, but he could stop this season from being another travesty.

Minnesota Twins History

The Minnesota Twins have only been playing baseball in Minneapolis since 1961. Before 1961, they had been based in Washington D.C. and gone by the Nationals or the Senators. Those seasons in the nation’s capital featured a couple good years, including a World Series win in 1924, but were mostly an experience so frustrating many wondered whether the city were simply cursed when it came to the national pastime.

The move west to Minnesota paid dividends very early. They played and lost in the 1965 World Series and lost in the ALCS to the Orioles in 1969 and 1970. The Twins spent the next 15 seasons in the middle of the pack before busting out with the franchise’s second World Series win in 1987. Position players Kirby Puckett and Kent Hrbek and pitchers Frank Viola, Bert Blyleven, Jeff Reardon, and Jack Morris led the team to a win over the St. Louis Cardinals. Four years later, much of the same roster returned to beat the Atlanta Braves.

In the seasons since, the Minnesota Twins have not returned to the World Series, but they have been a constant contender in the AL Central, taking the division six times in the first decade of the 21st century. TheSeats has the Minnesota Twins ticket to Target Field to see Mauer and Morneau as they take this franchise back to the postseason and, perhaps, the World Series.
