St. Louis Cardinals Tickets

Closing in on the 2010 MLB All-Star Game break, even at 45-38 and only two games behind NL Central-leading Cincinnati, the St. Louis Cardinals have been hearing the boo-birds at Busch Stadium III recently. Granted, St. Louis fans do have high standards and the Cards did put in a couple of below-par performances against Arizona and Milwaukee recently, but the situation is far from dire for the Cardinals who are 5-5 in their last ten games.

Far from panic mode, St. Louis' offensive numbers still fall near the middle of the league Ð 13th in batting average (.260), 11th in homeruns (84), 19th in runs-batted-in (349) and 16th in hits (733) Ð and the run differential (+55) remains on the right side of the meter. Additionally, the offensive foundation of Albert Pujols, Matt Holliday, David Freese, and Colby Rasmus remains potent, while on the mound, Adam Wainwright, Chris Carpenter, and Jaime Garcia all continue to perform, so everyone needs to fight the urge to throw this club under the bus just because they have fallen to second place in the division. The problems are minor, few, and most likely fixable on their own.

In typical fashion, Pujols not only dominates all of the St. Louis stats columns, but the superstar Cardinals first-baseman's 93 hits also place him 2nd in the National League in homeruns (20), runs-batted-in (61), on-base percentage (.416), slugging percentage (.570), and OPS (.986), in addition to being 1st in the NL in walks (57) and 6th in batting average (.308). After Pujols, left-fielder Holliday (.297 BA, 12 HR, 42 RBI), third-baseman Freese (.296 BA, 71 H, 36 RBI), and center-fielder Rasmus (.276 BA, 16 HR, 40 RBI) all provide numbers that could find them atop any other team's stats charts.

On the mound, the St. Louis Cardinals have three top starters who account for a combined 41 quality starts and just over 341 innings-pitched in 52 outings. Individually, the left-handed Garcia (8-4, 13 QS, 94.1 IP, 77 SO) leads the team with his 2.10 earned run average (2nd in NL), righty Wainright (12-5, 15 QS, 128.1 IP, 123 SO) leads the Cards in victories (2nd in NL) and strikeouts (1st in NL) with a 2.24 ERA landing him second on the squad and third in the NL, while the right-handed Carpenter (9-2, 13 QS, 119.2 IP, 105 SO, 3.16 ERA) rounds out the three Cardinal hurlers.

As you can see, this is a team that has more than enough weapons to remain in contention for the rest of the year without any major adjustments. Fans need to calm down, buy some St. Louis Cardinals tickets, and just come on out to Busch Stadium to enjoy what fans in other cities can't, a solid and consistently exciting team which always seems to be in the hunt season after season.
