Denver Nuggets 2008 Outlook

The Denver Nuggets played down to the wire to make the playoffs in the Western Conference in 2007-08. The team finished 50-32 for the eighth seed in the playoffs and second place in the Northwest standings. The Nuggets were led all season long by an explosive offense that saw Allen Iverson finish third in the NBA with 26.4 points a game, but also finish with 7.1 assists. Iverson and Carmelo Anthony provided the bulk of the offense, and J.R. Smith and Linas Kleiza came off the bench to keep the offense rolling when the stars were on the bench. The club finally began turning their fortunes around in 2003 when they drafted Carmelo Anthony. The young forward spurred the team onto four straight playoff appearances, and four straight first round exits.

The Nuggets’ attempt to find a running mate for Anthony ended in 2006 when they traded for prolific scorer Allen Iverson. The two have recreated the offensive machine of the ‘80s with their penetration and demand for defensive attention.
