Memphis Grizzlies Tickets for Sale

The Memphis Grizzlies took the Spurs out in seven games in the first round and the then forced the Thunder into a corner before finally losing in Game 7 of the Western Conference Semifinals. Power forward Zach Randolph and center Marc Gasol combined to average 37.3 points i and grab 22 rebounds a game in the postseason. They return as a part of this talented roster to torment NBA teams in the interior. Randolph proved that he could not be contained on the block, something he had done inconsistently before. Now he is a solid 20-10 guy and Gasol is there to hit a midrange jumper, grab a board, or put back a bucket at the rim.

Memphis also benefited from solid guard play. Mike Conley morphed into a solid point, averaging 15.2 points and 6.4 assists a game. Add the OJ Mayo's contribution as a scorer off the bench and Tony Allen's solid defense and the Grizzlies were the surprise of the playoffs. They will get Rudy Gay back, adding a dynamic scorer to the mix. Battier filled in admirably, but Gay is necessary for the basketball team to make another memorable run at the FedExForum.

Grizzlies tickets will be an interesting purchase next season because they could be available for a team suddenly ready to make a serious push in the Southwest Division. The only key rotation player that will need to be resigned is Gasol. Everyone else who matters is under contract for the season and ready to make a bigger splash come the end of the NBA lockout.

Memphis Grizzlies History

The Memphis Grizzlies first took to the floor in 1995 in Vancouver. The franchise spent six seasons struggling to build a solid base, trying the Canadian city's patience. Eventually, the Grizzlies moved stateside, taking up residency in Memphis. Those first couple of seasons proved no better, but in the 2003-2004 NBA season the franchise enjoyed a 50-32 record thanks to the leadership of Coach Hubbie Brown, the moves of executive Jerry West, and the play of center Pau Gasol, Mike Miller, James Posey, and Jason Williams.

Brown's tenure would be brief and though Memphis would reach the playoffs in two more seasons, fans could see the team chemistry atrophying over the course of the season schedule. By the 2006-07 NBA season Pau Gasol was not enough to guarantee wins and two seasons later he was traded to the Lakers for his brother, a few minor players, and a couple draft picks. The Memphis Grizzlies took what was supposed to be a lopsided trade and built a roster around Zach Randolph, Marc Gasol, and Rudy Gay. This trio has taken the franchise back to the playoffs and made the basketball fans at the FedEx Forum extremely thankful that they kept the faith.
