The Dallas Cowboys season came to an end in the divisional playoff game at the hand s of the eventual Super Bowl champs, the New York Giants. The Cowboys had earned a first round bye in the playoffs after finishing with a 13-3 record and winning the NFC East title.
The Cowboys explosive offense scored over 28 pints a game. Tony Romo was the quarterback at the helm of the attack the also featured a running game split between RB Marion Barber and RB Julius Jones and a receiving core featuring WR Terrell Owens, WR Patrick Crayton, and TE Jason Witten. The 3-4 defense featured LB DeMarus Ware, CB Terrance Newman, and SS Roy Williams. The Cowboys will look to solidify the other side of the secondary with a cornerback, find a feature running back, or build a stronger offensive line through the 2008 draft, in which they have the 23rd pick.
Team History
The Cowboys have been won the featured franchises in football since their introduction as an expansion team in 1960. The team has won five Super Bowls, won 10 conference championships, and 19 divisional championships.
The list of notable players and coaches for the franchise is long. Tom Landry built the team after its inception in 1960, coaching teams with players such as QB Dan Meredith, WR Bob Hayes, QB Roger Staubach, and TE Mike Ditka. The team continued to dominate the league until the mid-80s, but Jimmy Johnson soon entered the picture, drafted QB Troy Aikman and RB Emmitt Smith and won Super Bowls in 1992, 1993, and 1995. The current team looks poised to re-establish the dominance that has characterized the franchise.
