2007 Recap
The Houston Texans missed the playoffs but recorded the team’s first non-losing record at 8-8. The team had the misfortune to play in the toughest division in football, the AFC South, and finished last.
The team continued to be challenged by uncertainty at key offensive positions. The franchise released David Carr prior to the season and spent much of the season letting Matt Schaub and Sage Rosenfels at quarterback. The running game’s best weapon is Ahmed Green, but the team is looking to upgrade from the veteran in the 2008 draft with the 18th pick where Oregon RB Jonathon Stewart may fall. The Houston Texans are looking for Andre Davis, Andre Johnson, or Kevin Walter to emerge as a top wide receiver.
Team History
The Texans filled a void in Houston football, after the Oilers moved to Tennessee and changed their name to the Titans. In 2002, the Houston Texans played their first professional game against the Dallas Cowboys, coming away with a victory. Since then, the team has struggled to find its self, despite becoming the first expansion team to win its first three season openers.
The team fired Dom Capers in 2006 and replaced him with Gary Kubiak as head coach. The Texans shocked the league and its fans in 2006 by taking DE Mario Williams over RB Reggie Bush and Texas Longhorn QB Vince Young, who would fall to the Houston’s former team, the Tennessee Titans.
