2007 Recap
The Seattle Seahawks finished atop the NFC West in 2007 with a 10-6 record. The team’s season ended in the divisional playoff game, losing to the Green Bay Packers 42-20.
The Seahawks had a powerful offense all season long, averaging over 24 pints a game. The team is set at quarterback with Matt Hasselbeck and at running back with Shawn Alexander. The Seahawks will try to upgrade at wide receiver and tight end in the draft and may attempt to bolster the offensive line with the 25th pick in the 2008 draft. The defense was solid during the season, only allowing 18 points a game, and has spent the offseason keeping it intact by placing the franchise tag on CB Marcus Trufant and resigning S Jordan Babineaux.
Team History
The Seattle Seahawks were established in 1974 as an expansion team in the NFL. The team is notable for being the only team to switch conferences twice. The team played its first season in the NFC West, moved to the AFC West in 1977, and moved back to the NFC West in 2002.
The Seahawks have found most of their success in the last decade under head coach Mike Holmgrem, winning six division championships and winning the NFC Conference Championship in 2005, ultimately losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Super Bowl XL. Recently it was announced that this next season will be Mike Holmgrem’s last. Jim Mora, Jr. will take over starting with the 2009 season.
